I apologise for not keeping this blog more current and up to date. Currently I am traveling with my husband in our RV and my focus has been updating the travel blog which you can access under travel speak. However… I do want to keep the herbal blog going too. So apologies once again.
It is fall which has always been my favourite time of the year. I love feeling the shift in temperatures and daylight changes. Traveling in an RV has made that shift extremely pronounced. The strong winds that have buffeted the walls of the RV and the cold early mornings have tuned us in more to the change of seasons than ever before. The drabness of the vegetation, browns and beiges, dried grasses and dead bushes are all signs of this amazing transition from summer into winter. it is a preparation for the short days and cold nights and the turning within ourselves to a more quiet inner world. I feel very blessed at this time to experience this as I know how hard it is to slow down in our busy, work world with Christmas approaching and the hecticness that it brings. But… perhaps this is even more important now than ever to bring more balance of the inner quiet that resides in each of us. In this way we will feel the slow pulse of the natural world and move in rythym with her as she slumbers. It could be a more restful time if we can make the room for this and give ourselves permission to be less distracted and busy.
Very difficult don’t I know it!
Happy Fall Everyone!

Its here finally here!
Summer and everything is in bloom. The days are long and the sun is high in the sky. This is the most expansive time of the year and sometimes it feels a little overwhelming or is that just me? If the sun is shining I feel the need to be outside which can make for a very long day. I also find that I have less tolerance for the heat as I have got older. Again is that just me? I used to live in Durban, South Africa which is a very hot and humid area and here I am feeling quite wimpy if not limpy in the heat. However that being said is it not wonderful to be swimming again and enjoying all the flowers in bloom. There is so much abundance surrounding us provided freely by our mother earth. I constantly remind myself of this and try not to take it for granted.
Thank – you and thank-you for all the goodness, abundance and beauty that surrounds us.
Please see St John’s Wort as the herb of the month.

It is spring, and don’t we all know it. Here in the Santa Cruz area we have had a good deal of rain and every time we think “this is the last of it” along comes another storm. Yes I am grateful for the rain but it is a little unusual to still be having rain in May. The flowers are blooming, the bees are humming and it is that time of the year when it is good to feel alive. One can just feel that new, renewed energy coming forth from Mother Earth. It has been a busy time and big changes have taken place in my life, how about yours? Are your new seed beginning to germinate and delicate shoots appearing?
I thought I would introduce travel speak as a new blog to write about the trip my husband and I are embarking on. We have sold and given away all “our stuff” and are now living in an RV and headed out to visit all those beautiful places that one reads about. If you are at all interested, please take a look. Just click on the heading travel speak. I will be starting to write soon.

A brand new year begins again.
So while the earth slumbers, new seeds lie scattered here and there, patiently waiting for just the right conditions for growth to occur. I love that image and hopefully we all have our inner seeds waiting just as patiently to manifest. Some might already have begun to sprout, others might take a little longer. I guess it is up to us to decide which ones to foster growth. Our intentions will determine that. I feel very hopeful about this year. I hope we all get the opportunity to do the things we love to do and that give us the most joy. That is certainly one of my seeds.
What are your seeds for 2010? Is this something you can write about? soemthing you can sing about, something you can draw and paint about? something you can do a collage about. How wonderful if you can find the time to do so, for surely then those seeds will be nourished and nurtured through your love and attention.
And so be it.
Happy New Year!
